Welcome to the Western North Carolina Association
One of three Associations of the Southern Conference of the United Church of Christ, WNCA comprises 78 churches in four program districts. Professional staff, working with specialized commissions and committees, strengthen the spiritual and community life of individuals and congregations across the Association.
WNCA STAFF & MINISTRY SPECIALISTS
WNCA participates in the Conceptual Staffing Model adopted by the Southern Conference in 2012, which identifies positions and individuals who focus on specific areas of the Association’s ministry.

Minister for Church Affairs
A pastor to churches and their pastors, the Minister for Church Affairs works to build relationships of trust between local churches, the association, and the conference.
The Registrar offers part-time administrative support to the Association, its staff and board.
A student at Catawba College, Ms. Kennett offers part-time administrative support to the Association.
WNCA’s Ministry Specialists assist congregations and pastors with conflict resolution, search and call, and implementing church policies. To reach any of these individuals, contact the Association office.

Each year at its Annual Gathering in October, the Western NC Association elects members of the Board of Directors, who meet quarterly to manage the business and direction of the Association.

CHURCH & MINISTRY COMMISSION
The Church and Ministry Commission Commission upholds the standards of ministry on behalf of the Association, and works with Ministry Specialists who assist congregations and pastors with conflict resolution, search and call, and implementing church policies. The Commission’s responsibilities include —
- interviewing candidates
- recommending candidates for standing and ordination
- receiving students into care
- promoting the welfare of local churches and their clergy
